It's kinda complicated to explain:

Here's one of our transhipper's post for us in Canada:
http://z15.invisionfree.com/BettaBre...?showtopic=182
STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN YOU BUY A FISH FROM ASIAN SELLERS:
1) Understand all the costs associated with purchasing an auction fish from the Internet because the sum may shock you! There are 4 parts to transhipping fees:
a) Import + handling (regular sized, giant, and wild bettas are priced differently)

Packaging + box charge (
starting at $5 depend on how many fish you got), free if you're picking up the fish because I won't be insulating your box
c) Local shipping (
starting at $25 depend on location and size of box) or pickup charge ($15 flat fee)
d) Paypal service fee (+4%, we must charge this or else we'll run short in offsetting our costs. Please remember, we're not transhipping for profit)
Optional: Heat pack ($4) for colder months
2) Bid on the fish you wish to purchase. Pay the seller after you win your auction. For most Thai sellers (except those in remote regions), you need to only pay the actual cost of the fish. For Indo and Malay fish (and on rare occasions Thai sellers in remote areas), you may be asked to pay additional shipping from their location to Bangkok, Thailand. You should pay this to the seller as well.
3) Tell the seller to include your purchase into the next shipment to Canada. Specify which transhipper you want to use (Hung an I work together, but in case you have other transhippers in mind)
4) Email me and Hung and tell us that you're expecting fish (from whom and how many), and if you want them shipped to you or would you be picking up (The "CC" function on your email is your friend!)
5) You will be notified by email once your fish arrives. We'll at this point invoice you for payment. If you're picking up, you can pay cash when you show up (paying by cash also means that you're saving box fee and the 4% paypal fees) For shipping orders, you'll paypal the person who will be doing the shipping (we'll tell you which one in the email). If we don't hear from you within 3 days of the fish arriving, or make payment within 7 days of our first attempt to contact you, you will lose title to your fish.
6) Getting your fish:
a) local pickup -- pick up in Mississauga, ON (L5J 4R3) on first Sunday after fish arrives, 9:30am-12:30pm, unless otherwise notified by me.

mail by Canada Post Priority Courier or FedEx Priority Overnight. Your fish will be mailed out the first Monday-Wednesday after payment is received
You can use Canada Post or FedEx wesite to look up rates. To estimate shipping rates, use the following information:
- Hung's origin postal code L2H 1M3 or my origin postal code L5J 4R3 (depending on which one of us will be reshipping your fish)
- your destination postal code
- 10inx10inx10in and 5lb packaging reference for 1-6 bettas
- make sure to include signature and delivery confirmation options
7) Regarding DOA
If your fish arrive to us dead, it's an automatic DOA and seller would replace your fish. You'll have to pay import for both dead and replacement fish, as well as box and shipping of replacment fish, when we mail you your replacement.
For casualties that occur during reshipping, we work with Thai sellers to honour DOA (dead on arrival) policy only if all the following criteria are met:
a) the fish was shipped by an overnight service

you signed for the package on the first delivery attempt
c) you provided us with clear picture proof of dead fish in unopened bag within 2 hours of receiving the package (according to tracking)
DOA fish will be replaced by seller at no cost. We waive all transhipping related costs except local shipping.
8) If your fish is still with us after the first 5 days of the fish arriving, DOA policy will be void, and we will not guarantee the health or condition of the fish from this point forward. In additon, you will be charged $1/day boarding fee for your betta until it is reshipped, picked up, or surrendered.

Now back to the rest of the discussion

You can ask the sellers to repost the auction with a "buy now" option, then you use the option to complete the transaction. This way you have a record, and it'll allow you to give and receive feedbacks.
I do that for all my off-auction aquabid purchases.

It think it's like $50 a box which holds 10 betta I think. Plus all what she said in the post above. For me to get Casper on my own it would have cost me around $80 all said & done...I paid only $30 without the shipping.
