my new boys

I couldn't stand walking past Ianto's empty tank any longer, so I broke down and went to PetCo for another Betta. And I swear, I did actually plan on getting ONE Betta. But three is close to one right?

There was a display of Betta cups as soon as you enter the store, so I looked over them all carefully but there weren't any that I instantly fell in love with like Ianto was. After a few minutes they began to notice me and started swimming around a bit, so it helped me see their personalities and narrow it down to two. A white and pastel blue crowntail and a red veil tail.

I figured I could put one in my 10 gallon and one in my 2 gallon since they're both cycled. Then I decided to get a 5 gallon for the second one and I found the tanks next to a second stand of Bettas. Well that time one did catch my eye immediatley so I got him too. He was swimming around his cup like he was going insane in there so I couldn't just leave him. He's a very active blue/red crown tail.

Okay, so here are my boys...

Jake:

Toby:

Silly boy obsessing over his reflection

The third Betta, who I haven't named yet. I'm thinking maybe Spike (for his spiky crown tail) or Mick but I'm not sure yet.

The unnamed boy is in the 10 gallon with 2 cories, Toby is in the new 5.5 gallon (with used filter media to add bacteria) and I put Jake in the 2 gallon since he's tiny. I'd say he's only about 1 1/2 inches long.

Yes, three is nearly the same as one when it comes to bettas!

They're really lovely boys. I especially like the shimmery blue CT.

The blue/red CT is now named Mic. He's got big, silly looking lips so I figured "hey, Mic Jagger!"

They've all settled in nicely and are very active. Toby's tank is on the desk beside my computer so I'm watching him even as I type.
