rescue from walmart or get on from LFS

Well I just got back from walmart and I found 2 bettas that I was this -- close to buying. One was a female the other was a very nice male.

Now,which it better. Save one from Wal-mart and give it a great life in a nice filtered, heated tank or get one from our fish store where they are taken care of very nicely?

If I buy on from wal.mart then they see that people buy fish from them but then I could save on from there and give him/her a great live here. I would also have to slow the filter out flow so it was slower.

What is a man to do?

I brought home my first Walmart CT betta yesterday. We'll see how he does. He seems healthy so far.
I'd get them...they may as well have good home even if it's the last days of their life. You never know how long they will last so $6.44 isn't too much to spend even if the fish does last too long.
Now if I spend $30 on a betta which I just did off of Aquabid.com...he had better be healthy.

Tough call. On the one hand, I don't recommend supporting any store/chain that carries dyed/tattooed fish (wal-mart does) but if they've called your name to rescue them, then that's hard to resist.

I am getting the Female and slowing water flow Help ASAP

It would only be 3 something, I LOVE the little female that was there.

I am going to go get the female that I saw. She was so cute!

Ok then, how would I go about slowing the current down? I have a side of a coke bottle clipped to the outflow as seen the pictures. Its a 6g eclipse tank.

You can try using a rubber band to secure a filter sponge or floss in front of the outflow. She will build up swimming strength and be able to swim into it soon enough.

I don't know if this would work on your filter, I stuck a peice of filter floss into the out take so it hangs in the tank.

Isn't it funny, when you see THE one and pass it up, it's not long before you are back to buy it.
I think they send out vibes saying......take me home...take me home....

I have a very strong filter on Wills tank....He has never had a problem....I agree with CoBetta, she will soon build up strength and be swimming like there's no tomorrow.....

Can't wait to see pictures of her.....Hurry back!

I have a female and a BIO-wheel, too, and she was surfing the current from it her first day home. I also had that "bring me home" mind-control ray hit me when I first saw her.

I was looking at fish, before I even had my tank assembled and cycling (which is why she didn't come home with me when I first saw her), and saw her in that awful little Cup of Death. She was so cute, and pouted at me with her lipstick...and when I was in that same store a WEEK later and saw her still there, I knew she had to come home with me.

The only problem i have with rescueing wal-mart fish is that they are usually mixed bread and are prone to genetic problems. Dont forget petco has mass bettas all in small containers i rescued my female betta when she was very small. She has grown very well but has a deformed gill cover which makes look alittle shabby so it just depends on what you want.

WE are BACK!!

MBS (multi betta syndrome) is KILLING US!!!

I went and got her! As I was making sure she was the one, my mom fell in love with this dalmatian guy. I told her that he will be there for a long time as he is white and not very good looking. Well he is going to our breeder net till she can get a tank cycled. It's better than a cup-o-death.

Here they are. I have not name my girl yet but my mom named her guy Pongo after the dad dalmatian from 101 Dalmatians.

The pic of my girl are as good as I can get right now. Also here is what my room and the dinning room look like right now. HEHE

Nice save, I bet once he gets into a bigger clean tank his colors will really blossom.
Your little girl has the same coloring as mine, I love the blue.
Congrats to you and your mom.

Hi!
Andy and Pongo's mom chiming in here.

I don't know exactly what happened to me there in the fish aisle at WM this morning. It was like I was struck by lightening or something, I took one look at this homely white little fish, in a disgusting, filthy cup of water.....well, the rest is history!!

He's not even out of that nasty lil cup yet, but he's already looking 1000X better! He's groovin' in the fresh water dripping in and Andy put some drops of Prime and AmQuel and then some VitaChem for his fins and general health. I'm amazed at the change already in him. He's a fiesty little guy, I think he's going to make it!

I am NO fan of WM and I avoid the fish aisle there as much as possible, but I went poking through the betta cups and somehow this fella locked his baby-blues with me and I was DONE! LOL!
