Divided Tank Question - Male and Female

Well, I have a new 10 gallon, and just had one quick question. I am for sure getting a female on Friday, but if I divided the tank, would I be able to put a male on the other side? I know a lot of people have males in divided tanks, but would having a female make a difference? Thanks,

Cory

Ok, that's about what I thought. One more question, I've read that I should have a filter on both sides, so I was thinking this one, http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA/...e80powerfilter
Would this suffice for what I want? Thanks again,

Cory

2 of those might produce too much current really. You'd want to look for a filter that does maybe 50-70gph max for each side. We have a divided betta tank but just a filter on one side and a good airstone on the other.

Will I need tubing also, or will some come with it?

Just a couple regular hob filters like these: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...5&pcatid=12085

I think they have adjustable flow too.

Dave we are trying to find things that he can get at:

http://www.bigalsonline.ca

so he can cut down on shipping costs to Canada.

He really needs to go to Sponge filters if he is going to divide the tank and have current on both sides. This will provide the most control of the current and water movement..or the filter you are using in the other tank can be used in the tank you are going to use but it will cause more current movement and give the fish a bit more problem. In a divided tank there is just nothing like the sponge filters. He can use a small one made for 5 to 10 gallons on each side and it will keep the tank very well cycled. He can use the same airpump for the both of them and just get a T for the the tubing.

It would run like so:
tubing to #1..
Air Pump ....tubing ... check valve...tubing...t valve to split<
tubing to #2...

Put an air control device in the tubing to each sponge filter and attach it to the small tube on the filter and you are set.
