PH For A Betta?

Hello again
I understand that the prefered PH for a betta is under 7.5
The water in my 10G sits around 7.8
The water in the town is also around 7.8 - 8.0

Would this be ok for a future betta?

If you buy a local betta it should be used to the higher pH.

Remember it is better to have a stable out of range pH than a constantly altering sometimes in range pH. Fish don't like drastic changes. If you buy one from a LFS and not online you should be alright.

Our Bettas have lived in 7.8 pH in Florida and 7.6 pH here. Your Betta shouldn't have any problems, especially if bought locally. No matter what though, acclimating the new Betta slowly to the tank will help avoid temp. and chemistry shocks.

I do buy my fish online and they get accustomed to the local pH with no buffering agents and problems just fine. Fish are much more adaptable than we give them credit for and as long as we give them a slow acclimation period when we bring them home, they can adjust with no problem.

My bettas get along fine and have had to adjust to pH changes in the local water as our supply does change from time to time with the change in chemicals used around here. (not happy about it but it happens sometimes)
