New girl!!!
Hey guys, haven't been on here much lately cause school's been keeping me insanely busy, but had to introduce my new girl I just came home with. She's a super tiny cambo...had to rescue her from Deathco cause she's too small to eat the whole pellets they feed their bettas, so the pellets were sitting on the bottom of the cup rotting. Right now she's still floating in the tank-I'll post pics tomorrow if she's settled in enough. And no she hasn't got a name yet.
I'm planning on training her to see how many tricks she can learn. I'm interested in seeing how bettas compare to mice and horses (the other animals I have experience training).

Congrats on rescuing her! If you can find the Betta Pro pellets, those are small enough for even our little Chloe but maybe some thawed Hikari frozen bloodworms would make her day (and/or spoil her )
I'm sure she'll learn quite a few tricks. Ours have - without us trying.

Can't wait for the pics!!! Sadly i had to leave a sweet cambo girl in the store the other day. I felt poo doing so BUT i am treating Sky for harsh finrot and Kiz had injured himelf that is a Harry Potter style scar on his head!!!! She was in a female betta tank, others had stress bars, she was swimming about oblivious.I said sorry but i have to care for my boys and i'm not rich!
( I'm feeling ill right now, the weather has been very cold here and a STUPID moron emptied her water buckets in the courtyard outside my stable. My friend brought Rosie in tonight and my poor pony slipped on ice and went bang on her side!!! I saw it, was awful. She was ok when i left BUT i want her HERE. You being a horsey person i know you'll feel my worry!!!!)
Pics of new girly asap!!!

Awww, new girlie! Cambodians are so pretty!
For my teeny girls, I have to soak the pellets then cut them in half and that works very well for them, even though they prefer bloodworms.

That's awful, I hate people like that who are so inconsiderate of horses & do things like dump water everywhere. Glad she was ok though.
I'll probably end up just soaking/cutting her pellets since I can't find any smaller brands of pellets than the Hikari bio gold.
Here's a couple pics I managed to take. Camera wasn't focusing very well but I didn't want to keep bothering her taking pics...so I'll try to get some better ones later. It's just a q tank but someone gave me those blue marbles for Christmas so I decided to throw them in, makes the tank a bit more interesting I think.

Awwww, she's so CUTE and tiny!
She looks exactly like my Holly. Does she have multi-coloured eyes too? Just wondering if all Cambodians have them...?

That is a very pretty female indeed.
When I wanted to 'grow-out' my Betta's, both female or male, I used only defrosted frozen bloodworm. I would cut the bloodworm up to make it easier for them to eat since their mouths were very small; making sure they got about 2 whole bloodworms twice a day.
Did that for 1½ months then added the softened pellets and squished peas.

She is very beautiful and reminds me of Misty. But she is much tinier. She does need the Betta Pro pellets. I wish I were closer as I have a scad of them and would be glad to share. They are just made for tiny little betta mouths that are under 6 months old.
Congratulations to the both of you. Her for finding a wonderful betta Mommy, and you for the wonderful loving betta child and lovely baby too.

Wow she does look just like Holly! She does have multi colored eyes, brown on top and silver on the bottom just like Holly's.
Wish I could get some Betta Pro. Seems like I can never get things I need when I need them. Oh well, the bio gold pellets worked fine once soaked and cut up. In fact she came and ate them right off my finger...I can't believe how tame she is! I remember the last betta I got, Dorado (still miss that guy....) took like a week before he'd hand feed, he was so shy. I still can't believe how tiny the new girl is...my other 2 look like giants now. She's so cute too...she's fascinated by the bubbles. I was watching her a while ago and she kept staring at them like "should I be scared of these or should I go play with them?"

Sorry girls but all Cambodians do not have those eyes, Misty's were the most lovely shade of blue and all blue. I tried so hard to get a good picture of them they were so special but never could get one that showed them really.
But the eyes on your girls' are lovely!

AWWWWWWWWWWW. She's sweet. I've been looking for a female betta but I can't find one . Stores around here don't stock them. Thinking about aquabid.com. Anyone ever used it?

Stupid question - how can you tell she's a cambodian as opposed to a b.splendens female?

She's soooo cute. Omorrokh, congrats on the rescue! I've been meaning to tell all of you who rescue bettas that I admire your efforts and compassion. If you still haven't named her, you might want to consider the name Lucy:

I couldn't find a girl betta around here, either, other than a couple of very, very overlooked and neglected ones that I'd have had no way of saving. Even so it's hard to walk off from them.
I bid on a girl betta on Aquabid Feb. 12. I've been very, very impressed with the seller, and Aquabid seems just fine. Here's the story, updated tonight, in case anyone is interested:
