How big are they? Are they fuzzy? Did they suddenly appear or grow slowly?

Do they look like grains of sugar?

If yes, then he probably has ich which is not at all surprising considering what he went through. Ich appears in fish who have been stressed.

You can go to the petstore and get some Rid-Ich, a medication that should take care of the problem.

Try raising the temp in the tank to 80 degrees while you treat him, and if you have a charcoal insert in your filter, remove it.

Ich is a very common disease that many fish get. It's easily treated. Just follow the directions on the bottle of Rid-Ich and make sure you continue to treat for the directed period of time even after the spots go away - usually for 3 days after symptoms disappear.

I'm sure Valentino will be just fine!

If you raise the temperature to 83 degrees and leave it there for 14 straight days you will not need to medicate him at all. This will drive the parasite off of his body and make it stay off of him. The two week period is the lifespan of the parasite and it will die as it is not on the fish. Then at the end of two weeks he can have a big water change and the temperature can be put back down slowly and he will be disease free. The Ich will be dead and he should be fine.

When you raise the temperature just raise it slowly like a degree every other hour or so and he will be fine and not stressed. He just got cold coming to you and Ich is a cold water disease. Fish get it who are in water that is too cold for them.

He is still going to need to have the temperature raised to rid the fish of the parasites completely but they should leave pretty quickly with the higher temperatures. Then with the meds he will be free of them for good but if you turn the temp back down before their lifecycle is over the new eggs that hatch will settle on him again possibly. The absolute safest thing to do would be to leave the temp up for the 14 days and then turn it down and the tank will be free of the little parasites. The medication bottle will tell you how long to medicate. I am not familiar with that med as I have never treated for Ich with meds. I would just be worried that without killing them with higher temperatures they will resettle on the fish and you will be right back where you began. Maybe someone else has thoughts.

It can't hurt to keep the temp up for like 20 days right?

Well you can but 14 days is the lifecycle of the parasite and it is not needed longer than that. He is not going to like it and his metabolism will stay increased during the time it is raised making his internal organs work harder. So my own opinion would be to hold it to 14 days if possible. If there is some reason why it cannot be turned down until 20 days is up, it will not kill him but will probably shorten his lifecycle a tiny bit.

I would recommend turning the heat back down to 80 after the 14 days is up too.
