not sure if my betta fins are regrowing or has ich or fin rot
please I need some help!
my betta fish Kiyo was very sick 2 weeks ago with Popeye, I gave him Maracyn-Two and his eye is much better now!! He's eating well, has a new clean tank. But since 2 days ago some white spots appeared at the end of his fins. While he had the Popeye, his fins went frizzy and got burned, then seemed to start recovering, but now these white spots appeared just at the end of the fins.
I read in another post that fins regrowing can turn white, but also these white spots sound a lot like Ich or Fin rot, I am not sure if my fish has gotten a second infection. I am posting some photos of the white spots, can you recognize them? Please help! I am getting a little desperate here.
Just in case he's sick again, I put fresh new water in his 2 gallon tank and added BettaSafe for treating the water and CopperSafe and Maracide on this newest water change. Also his temperature is now 80° F. Is there something else I should do? The poor fish went thru a lot with the Popeye and I just hope these white spots are sign of recovery and not of a second infection.
I truly appreciate any input!

Looks like fin rot to me. Dont freak out. Just keep his water really clean. water changes every day or every other day. If there is a moderate to strong cuttent in the tank that can contribute. However with the pictures im seeing it looks like the fins are in the process of growing back. Some bettas have been known to tear and eat their own fins (mine does sometimes) But stay positive

oh thanks a lot Mark! I appreciate your reply and hopeful message I just thought I was out of trouble with him after the Popeye when the white tips started to appear...
and thanks for the reminder: Yes! I will keep on changing his water daily! Also, I added CopperSafe and Maracide to his water already tonight. But I wonder if fin rot needs another anti-biotic. Do you think I should add some Maracyn-Two as well?
thanks!

i would jsut stick to the water changes. I really dont like to put chemicals in any of my tanks. But if you use anything i would make sure its for BACTERIAL infections.
OH and welcome to FISHLORE!!!

I will surely change his water daily until he recovers, if he doesn't improve soon then I will add the antibiotic

Be patient, it can take months to get him 100%. 3 months for one of my guys to heal.
Good luck!

oh thanks a lot Allie for your words
yes, I am new to this Fish world, so sometimes I have no idea how long does it take for them to recover... I will be patient!
On the bright side, Kiyo is eating well and seems happy over all! I think he's on his way to recovery indeed
thanks! I am glad I enrolled to this forum

Welcome to Fishlore!
I'd recommend 2 things for him: Vita-Chem and Fish Protector. They're not meds, but vitamins and supplements that can help with general fish health - we use them regularly with our fish. I'd stop the coppersafe now and the maracide as soon as you finish the current course.
Watch his fins carefully and if it gets any worse, then I would suggest Triple Sulfa and Rid-Fungus to treat the fin rot.

oh thank you for the tip Betta Couple, I will add the Vita-chem and Vish protector tomorrow when I change his water again, I have been changing his water every other day and Kiyo (my betta) seems to be OK. His fins are still not cure of course but he's doing a very little bubble nest, swimming happy and eating OK, so I hope these are all signs of recovery!
thanks! and I do Fishlore, everybody here so helpful
thank you!
