My new Female betta has difficulty eating

I purchased my female betta like 4 to5 days ago and she is in a 3 gallon bowl at the moment shes a crowntail red fins and white body. i usually watch her eat and i have noticed that she cant eat betta pellets seems that her mouth is too small i tryed crushing flakes into small bits but she doesn't eat them from the surface it has to be on the bottom of the bowl for her to look for and eat and i also have these tropical fish bits which do fit into her mouth she eats them and sometimes spites them out and trys to eat them again. I dont have that much experience in betta behaviour so this kinda felt strange to me is there something wrong with her

I have had two betta male not including the female in my entire life. The current male that i have now which gulps down everything eatable. and another which i had 4 to 5 years ago which we kept in the small container that he came with since I or my parents didn't know anything about fish keeping he ended up living for 2 years and would eat just like my current male.

Female bettas are often very small at time of purchase. My two females couldn't, and still can't, eat whole pellets.

What I do is soak them (I feed Hikari BioGold for bettas) and then when they're soft, I cut them into tiny pieces and offer those.

Also, try frozen, thawed, chopped bloodworms. Bettas are carnivores and need the protein.

Don't offer flakes, or the Tropical bits. They're not really good for bettas.

Hikari freeze dried bloodworms is another good food. Just chop them really small.

Glad you rescued another betta...I love cambodians (white body, red or sometimes blue fins)-just today I saw a little cambodian girl at petsmart, I wanted her so bad...

Have you tried these Betta Pellets, they're the smallest ones that I've seen:

There are also micro-pellets at the fish shops that might be good for her. She'll love the thawed frozen bloodworms the most though.
