Alt to Indian Almond Leaves

I sent away for some Indian almond leaves only to d=find that they are prohibited in Australia is there anything that is recommended as an alternative that can be used in here? I know about the styrafoam cup but I really want to go for something more natural and that supports his nest better.

I seen people that use small pieces of PVC cut in half with a suction cup.

indian almond leaves are more for the pH control and medicinal purposes of keeping bacteria infections down with the release of tannis.......if you were only buying them for his nest, he will build one no matter what if hes ready/conditioned to breed.....

I really like the other uses of the almond leaves other than just the nesting, is there anything else like it that can be used?

Atison's betta spa is suppose to be the same as using almond leaves. I've never tried it but it might be an option.

The betta spa is a good choice. Also, I've heard that you can use Green Tea. You might want to look up the exact recipe, but I read that you can add a few eye droppers of cooled green tea and it contains tannins.

As mentioned by Flyfrod and Splendorfish, Atison's Betta SPA might be an option for you. I am not a breeder, but use it occasionally just to give a more "natural" balance. I don't think it can hurt.

According to the bottle, it contains "Wild Almond leaf extract," adds essential trace elements to the water and promotes spawning, among other claims.

You can also use dry naturally fallen oak leaves that you find outside. Clean them well and make sure that they are brown, dry, and not moldy. They should have a distinctive smell, kind of like tea, but should not stink. Boil them for a little while and let them dry, then they're ready for your tank.

Dried banana leaves are also good, many people use them for healing purposes.
