| Is this a good breeding pair?
Hey, I noticed a female for sale and I was hoping to get an opinion on this breeding pair. I have read that the butterfly coloring is dominant, although highly variable, so I was hoping for Butterflies in the offspring. Any thoughts? (I wouldn't be spawning these two for a few months, but I thought this looked like a great female, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity if she is worth it) |

| Hmmm... Female has good scaling, BF pattern is even with only slight error on the dorsal. She's a 4 ray so should likely flare to 180* (sin't well flared in picture however is this is full flare she's only a SD. Dorsal has a decent base. Some BF pattern on Pectorial fins is cute. Ventrals seem to be a normal size.
I can't find any obvious issues with her. Others may have a better opinion (and more experiance).
The Male appears to have some red wash alread present in his fins so you'll probbly end up with BF Multicolors. The angle in the photo is bad but he appears to have a nice broad base on his dorsal and balence finnage.
They look like they'd be a good pair. You'll end up with a wide range of colors likely but you should have some BF if that's the main goal you're looking for.
My only critisim of the female is the "dip" she seems to have have after her dorsal but you're male seems to have a strong body to compensate.
Hopefully someone with more experiance will chime in.

| omg, she was listed on ebay. I was kind of skeptical cuz ebay isn't usually where the quality breeders list there fish, but she looked so nice I thought it might be worth the risk. (lol, figures that the fish I liked is one of yours MM) If you want, I can post the link to the auction?
MM and Shawnie, is this the exact female that you have? It was just listed on ebay so is this a bogus listing? I'm sorry, I'm confused as to what exactly is going with someone listing a pic of a fish they don't have.  Hello. I've merged your posts to save some space since there was no response between. | The fish on E-bay is not the one for sale nor the one you will receive....Like I said, she was mine and now lives with Shawnie....This is not an identical fish...This is a photo that has been used without permission......
