Down the road, I would be interested in trying my hand at breeding bettas.
I've been looking on Aquabid to get an idea of what I would like to have. Although I love the fancy tailed varieties, I'm really in love with the plakats ever since I got mine.
What would I have to look for in a male/female? Siblings are best right?
Plakats don't seem to have the same fins patterns as the other long finned varieties, should there be a certain pattern that I should look for? Are these generally easier/harder to breed? I would need to talk to my LFS's of course, to see if they would buy some fry, are plakats generally big sellers? No one around me carries them.

I was reading some of MM's posts, and she mentioned that red is a dominent trait, and will overpower other colors bred in the bettas. So, should I avoid red altogether? Also, I know that the super black melano females are sterile, but the males can still breed correct? I'm so hung up on the solids- super blacks & platinums. Day & night difference, I know.
