| wow.. its hard to believe that such teeny betta's can be ready for the 'family way' at such an early age. tho I do remember seeing my female drop eggs a week or so ago. I just look at them and consider them just babies.. and cant see them as parents yet lol..
Keep us posted with photos of these two couples.. they are a perfect match and looking forward to watching the babies grow up! |

| I thought the same thing Kate until talking to one of the top breeders in the nation....He told me the best age to spawn is 14 weeks....I have to say I believe this to be true after trying it.....
They will always be my babies |

Well, Im still thinking of trying to breed Mary's male and my female this summer. My ebay boy does not want to build a bubble nest for anything in the world.. but he does watch the female, yet he hardly wants to flare for her lol..( My ebay boy jeesh how undignified a name hehe but Im trying to think of a dragon name for him, since his eyes remind me of dragon eyes.) is just too large for this little girl to pair with. |

| He may also be getting too old to breed..9 months is about the cut off for a 1st time male...Mary's boy is the better choice anyway being her sib... |

| Karen, what a magnificent embrace of tenderness! I am so touched to hear that they are not 'beat up' and they have breed without the usual damage. This spawn is going to be exceptional! It will be so exciting to watch this process..thanks so much for the wonderful education you have given us on fishlore, Im extremely amazed beyond words... |

| Upright, yes, we breed siblings...It's not like in humans.....The only way to predict quality and type is to breed closely related fish....In the wild they have no idea they are related lol |

| WOW! Great pics, as usual. You always document these things so well. Nice look at the females banding, she really displays well.
I wonder how many generations you can interbreed before you start to see some genetic issues. |
