No tails yet. I am still hopeful. His bubble nest is massive now, and there are patches that are very thick looking or more white than clear. I am hoping these are eggs and not just layers of bubbles.

If this does not turn successful, I will wait 10 days and try again as you advised Karen. I am not giving up on Mercy! He will be a good dad, I know it!

He definately got the bubble nest thing down now. He kept letting the other one get destroyed and I think he got too lazy to make a more substantial one or he did not understand.

Thank you Red. I am giving it until Sunday before I take him out, but I cannot see any signs of eggs hatching. I am even using a magnifying glass.

I will try again in ten days if there are no babies!

Heather, He may have done a no no and ate the eggs...This is not uncommon for a 1st time Dad....I'd try again in 10 days and keep a close watch on him during the spawning process.....I've had this happen the 1st time and then the 2nd try is a success....

No, no eggs falling. I am not sure what I am doing wrong! I do not see any tails either. Could he have eaten them again? I did not see the wrap this time, so I cannot be postitive that there were eggs. I don't know what to do at this point!

Here is what I'd do...I put them back together again in 1 week....Do it at a time where you can monitor the whole process...Don't give up they will get it right eventually...Maybe you should try the other female next time....I'm thinking I better have a talk with Mercy! He's too pretty not to produce!

Okay, so you think I sould take him out now, and introduce them again in a week? Should I use the other girl next week, or the same one? I don't want to traumatize the pink girl too much, but the blue one will be a newbie.

Well, the second attempt was unsuccessful as well. We did make progress though. Here is the rundown:

1st attempt: We had successful wrap, female even was helping pick up eggs, but Mercy ate them almost immediately. Never saw any eggs in the bubbles.

2nd attempt: Another successful wrap, eggs were placed in bubble nest and he moved the nest a couple of times, seemed to be an attentive father......
For one day, then he ate the eggs again!

Sooooo.......I will be making a third attempt in a couple of weeks or so. They say that sometimes it takes a few times for newbie fathers to get it correct. I also think that the eggs may not have been fertilized because of inexperience, so he ate them which would not be wrong.

I will keep all of you posted! Third time's the charm!
