Four females to one male

Hi there guys... been while hey?!

Quick one.. and I know I should know this... but I'm a bit confused. I was having a chat to this guy at work about his betta that died and well I gave all the tips I could so they can get another and keep it healthy.

Now I hear they went and got one male and 4 females - all to live in one 20gal tank.

Now I wouldn't do that... 'cos of the aggressiveness etc... but I also know that sometimes the females get aggressive toward each other if there are more than one in a tank (sometimes).

Will this change if there is more than one female with a male?

I tend to think that it's not such a great idea... please correct me if I'm wrong?

Hi Isis!
I think they're asking for trouble. If a male and female spawn, they'll be left vulnerable to attacks from the other females.
Some time sorority tanks work but the chances are better if they're sisters and have grown up together.

Oh yes... then suddenly they try and make a plan... Then I'll be like "I told you so.. but you didn't want to listen, did you? NO!"

Oh I get so angry!

Gah..

When they aren't spawning (which opens up its own can of worms), they'll fight. Which actually resembles alot of relationships of people I know.

Sorry for your frustration.

Well it's more than just ignorance. After they've been informed and better advised they can no longer hold that claim. They are just willfully disregarding the correct information since its not to their liking.

yeah, IMO it won't work. one of my betta "girls" in my sorority ended up being a boy, and he just terrorized the girls, and then the second biggest girl would still chase the littler ones if the boy wasn't around.
