I don't think those guys are... usually when they're dt they look like they have a hm spread at that age because the doubling gives so much extra fin. It looks like mickey mouse ears lol.
Are you able to count the dorsal rays on the parents? It should give an idea of whether you're likely to get dt fry... I think it's if there's 12 or more they probably carry dt. Or 10 or more. I'll look it up in a bit for ya.

Sorry!
I could be wrong too... much harder to tell from pictures!
Anyway, couldn't find the page on dorsal length again... but my trad pk's who definitely don't carry dt have 10-11 dorsal rays... so 12 + is probably carrying it.

Thank you Pandora..I know nothing about DT's but thought it was interesting to see the edges on the babies tails..I'd never seen anything like this before..

Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of dt's, but they really help get nice hm's with full dorsals, etc. so I kind of had to learn a bit! Most of my hm's carry it now, since wide dorsals are one of the things I've been trying to select for more recently (kept getting annoyingly thin ones), so I've been doing a lot of dorsal ray counting. It's easier if you can take a clear picture of the dorsal than trying to count as they're moving around. In a few weeks, though you'll know for sure if they're dt's or not! No need for annoying ray counting if so.

No, I'll be off in Australia by then. I'll have to look into the chapters there. I know there's a few shows, I think there was one in Sydney not too long ago, so I may get to finally get to a show there.
That would be wonderful if you could enter some of your lil ones!
