What a difference!

Hey MM and other people who have bred betta...were there this much difference in the sizes of your fry? 3 originally 4 are triple the size of the rest roughly 30 fry left. I am moving the The 3 Piggies to their own tank so the rest can grow and get stronger. I think these 3 have been picking off their bros and sis's one by one. 5 days ago there was about 53 babies some really tiny, who are all gone. Saw one of the bigger one go after a smaller one...so they are getting their own 10g as soon as the temp is the same as the 33g they are in now.
One you can see the beginning of turquose shimmer on he/she.

I see the turquiose shimmer!

Very nice!

Smart move separating the bruts from the little guys.
I'll bet that a few more will fill in to replace them and start picking on the little ones again. That sounds like a good thing, though. It seems like you will get more stronger ones each time you take the bullys out.

Yes Allie..Mine have all been different in size...I have around 6 males that are large (one of them is HUGE) and all the rest are various sizes....I have heard this is normal...I feed a variety of foods so the small ones get to eat..I have them on microworms, freeze dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, Daphnia and Baby betta pellets...They eat everything I pu in but still remain different in size...

I see the turquoise...How exciting!!!!!

Cool, kind of figured it was normal, but these 3 look like they are a week older than the rest. I was just shocked at the pix of them compared to the rest.
Now in their own tank, checking out their new digs. Two of them have longer fins than the other bigger one. Still too soon to tell but the shorter finned one acts like their mom, Gracie. Could it be Gracie Jr?

Thanks...Not until springtime, like April at the earliest.
Can't ship fish in Canada during winter months. Too cold for safe transport
Plus I am keeping one or two for sentimental reasons.
