| I am trying to get pix, but I can only get a bird's eye view. They are in a Rubbermaid container...next pair will be in a tank so I can see the side view.
Romeo and Blossom are doing great, still lots of wrapping going on. Romeo is busy putting the eggs in the nest. It could be a few hours before they are finished.
Thanks all. I am so excited. I better get lots of sleep this week. I will be a busy betta grandma hopefully. |

| It just depends....Each spawn is different...Usually around 3 hours....You'll know when they are done because she will stay away from the nest...Once she runs away from him I scoop her out....
I'm super excited for you! I have a spawn going on right now too....They started this morning at 9 am so it should be interesting to compare hatching times....The warmer the water the sooner they seem to hatch...They also like a lot of humidity so keep the top tightly closed after the spawn and don't open it until you see hanging tails.. So the sooner they develop that the faster they will grow. I can feel the difference in the air when I move the glass and plastic wrap.
Cool, thanks Karen. I will grab her as soon as I notice her not interested in the nest area.
I am so excited. I have done nothing around here except make a pot of tea. I should eat eh? I am home alone, haven't talked to Ty yet. He'll be excited too.
Ok off to the breeder tank>>>> Last edited by Allie; November 18th, 2008 at 01:58 PM.

| Once again i am left out of the breeders circle. LOL. Oh well i maybe just maybe might be getting a pair of Bettas for my spare 100 LITRE tank. But i am not sure whether to put bettas in there or to use that tank as a clownfish breeder tank
Plz Help Me Decide.

Pairs don't live together. It's quite a task breeding betta. You can spend $1000 at least for your first spawn. Between getting quality fish which can run you anywhere from $20-$50 per fish. Plus grow out tanks, equipment, jars, small tanks, food, meds and the time to be around in case of disaster. This is a time consuming project, a full time job. Betta spawns can be as big as 200-500 babies...so when it come times to separate them you need a whole room just to dedicate to the indidvudal tanks and jars.
So if you don't have experience in breeding fish to begin with I would NOT bother trying betta. | |

Thanks Lucy. I am going to give Clownfish breeding a go though.
If anyone has any tips on breeding clowns (looks at agsanso) they would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. The clowns i attempt to breed will be orange clowns and i might get a mated pair for a bigger chance of success.
I have a spare 100 Litre tank. For any more info read my post "I Need Help Breeding Orange Clownfish".
Not trying to be rude allie.

| Allie....I hope you didn't take him out....I'd bet he just moved the eggs around.....This is very normal during the turning process...They mouth the eggs and move them into the back of the nest.... |
