Allie's Breeding Journal

Day One: In the breeder tank:
Red dragon HM pair Zeus and Hera: want to try them out to see what breeding entails. I want some practice before I get my 2 pairs coming the beginning of November.
I was told they could have some deformed fry b/c they both have that double tail hump from have dbl tail in their background. I was only told this by one person and not by Heather who sold me them. So I am breeding them anyways. Just to see what deformities could pop up so I will know. I could get some dbl tails out of them too or ones with less of a hump. I will cull any which need to be. I won't breed them again especially if the fry isn't normal.
** My goal is to mix and match my pairs to see what color combos they could create. I would like to create dark purple/lavender betta of some pattern. *Sigh!!* A purple dragon would be awesome, not likely for newbie.

Back to the tank: The dragons have been in the breeder tank since about 7pm last night.
No aggression at all. Lots of flirting and flaunting tho. Hera is not scared of Zeus at all.
Can't tell if he's got a nest going yet or not...he should soon. I am leaving them in there for 5 days at the most, heard that most breed on the 3rd day.
Here's some pix in the 20g Rubbermaid breeder tank.
Last pix Zeus blew a bubble at me lol.

We've got a nest started. Come on Zeus!! Geesh he is making in the leaves which broke off the plants, lol.
He so protective of it, he goes right to it when I get too close with the camera.
