Not only is this an expensive and time consuming and very labor intensive project, it is very dangerous to the fish involved unless you are a professional and have a crew that is trained to know how to manage the breeding pair. Unless you really know what you are doing it is not something for those who care about the fish they want to breed. Many a breeding pair has died of exhaustion for not being properly conditioned or injuries inflicted in each other by attacking each other and causing serious harm in the "war" that takes place during and after the process if they are not seperated at the proper time. The process takes hours and would need to have more than one person to supervise.
It is just not a wise decision. For a novice, if she wants to breed fish, she should try a livebreeder like guppies or mollies who are very simple and non complicated in any way and problem free. Breeding betta splendens is not something even most dedicated fish keepers are willing to attempt after years of keeping them. It is too risky for fish you really care about, costs thousands of dollars before it is over, takes hundreds of hours of work, there is no profit in it, and the chances of a sucessful breeding is almost nil.
