Prepping Pebbles new home

I starting prepping the 3 gallon for Pebbles last night. She's not in it yet. We have to move the dressers back in the bedroom before I can fill it back up with water and re-cycle it. Hopefully we will do that tonight. I cleaned everything though from top to bottom and it's ready to go for filling and cycling. I want to get her in there soon though because I saw yesterday that a little bit of her bottom fin has split. Not too badly, but I'm sure it's from the ammonia. I do water changes every other day to get it back to 0. It's back to 1.0 in 2 days. The tank has been warmer being in the office then in our bedroom. Probably because the blinds in the windows are wide open so she's in sunlight 90% of the day. So it keeps the water between 80 and 83, which is fine, since I can't heat that tank. She will be happy to move into her new home when it's ready to go. I'm not going to put anything in it with her until her fin is healed. I don't want it to get worse. I can't wait to see her in it though. It's so exciting to watch them when they move into there permanent home. Natalie

Re: Prepping Pebbles new home

Your life is going to change with a little girl in the bedroom. They get so cute and are really loving until you try to add to their tank. They are truly single tank dwellers so I am glad you are keeping her in a 3 gallon. Misty was my darling and little love and I loved owning her.

I can hardly wait for you to let us know how she likes her new home.

Remember we like to have pictures

Re: Prepping Pebbles new home

I moved her in last night. I don't have any decor in there though since her bottom fin is split a little bit. It'll be easier for me to keep the water clean if there isn't any decor in there. I put zymbac in there, so hopefully it won't take too long to cycle. She was swimming around checking everything out. She seems to like her new digs. She almost looks lost in there.

I know that everyone wants to see her. Thank you so much for being patient with me on that. I do have a ton of pics of her in the other tank, so I need to take a few of her in the 3 gallon. I also have 2 videos of her that I will be posting on youtube. Mike and I have been so busy remodeling our condo so we can get it sold. We were supposed to put everything back in the office and our bedroom last night, but we worked so hard this weekend to get the 3 rooms done that we just didn't have the energy to do it last night. We were dead tired. I'm surprised I had the energy to take care of 3 very energetic children yesterday at my job. The next room is the kitchen. That should be fun. : We are taking a break though I think for the next 2 weeks to visit with my nephew Timmy who is coming in from Buffalo. He will be here this Saturday. So, hopefully everything will be back in order and Mike can get the computer's up and running finally and just cross our fingers that there is no problems with them. They've been disconnected for 3 months now.Anywho, she is moved in and so far I think likes it. Re: Prepping Pebbles new home

She sounds adorable Nat. Also this post answered my other question about fish in tank with Zymbax.

I asked in Walmart if they every got females in and they said, always a few and she pointed up to a large community tank with female bettas and a bunch of other fish?? I thought they were supposed to be alone!! I don't know what the other fish were, but they weren't bottom fish. Maybe one day......................

Waiting for pics, we are patient, life gets so busy, I know. Val

i HATE when stores do that to female bettas.. they can be less 'social' than males and that kind of situation is rarely good for them.

Re: Prepping Pebbles new home

Yeah that's one reason why I bought Pebbles at petco because the females are kept in a community take together at Petsmart. Pretty much all of them had torn fins and tails I'm sure from fighting with one another. They were in with cory catfish.I'm not keen on Petco, but I really didn't want to deal with finrot right off the bat. Natalie

yea, i don't blame you.. it's a shame how bettas are treated and the females seem to get even worse treatment than the males.
