chasing fish

when u put a betta into a new tank with fish with short fins and are smaller than it , is it ok if it chases the other fish at first or something like that

I put a betta in with some female guppies... He was aggressive at first but after a week or so they have all come to an understanding and things have calmed down a lot.

I hope the same happens for you.

He might, you will have to watch him but usually bettas+community tank does not mix well. Either the betta will kill the other fish or the other fish will eat their fins.

watch your betta and other fish.. check the fish every day to see if any fins have been nipped or bitten off. what fish do you have the betta in with? colorful or flashy fish can still attract a betta's territorial nature even with short fins. some bettas will get along with other fish, but most seem to be limited to corys and otos as tankmates - some don't even get along with those.
