| Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly I lost a betta today, and I have lost 2 or 3 other fish in the last few weeks and I have regretfully made the decision not to replace any of them. It is a hard decision that I have made but the way things have been lately, it is hard to keep everything up and do justice to everything and I want to be able to be a super good mommy or not keep them. I think it is time to trim back a bit on my crew and so if something happens I will not be replacing the ones that leave me. Little Damon is going to think he has gone to fishie heaven as he is soon to have the 25 gallon tank to himself with the loaches and otos and he is already having fun on just one side of it.
Nate will go to the 12 gallon in the living room and I will just have 4 bettas.
JT became ill just last night and was gone this morning even though I put him in quarantine with medication immediately. I still do not know what was wrong with him. He just quit swimming and went vertical on me.

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly Rose I am so sorry for your loss. You have my condolences... Little JT had a good life with a mommy that loved him very much, it was all he could have asked for. |

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly I'm so sorry about little JT.
I know how you feel. I was broadsided when Whisper died so suddenly. She was fine and then the next morning she was gone. I am still hurting over her loss and my darling Phlox. Now I am going through watching Lava suffer. I too think that if/when I lose him I will not be replacing him. I don't want to get out of fishkeeping altogether but it is difficult to care for so many Bettas especially when one or two are always getting sick.
You have always been a great fish mommy and you should continue to have them even if only one or two. They seem to give you so much joy. |

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly Rose, I admire that you are making hard choices for now not to replace your lost fish. I pray that your life will turn in a direction that you feel ready to resume your hobby to the fullest. In the mean time, take some time for yourself, don't feel you have to pour it all into your fish, though that can be peaceful also. Sorry about your loss, this happens and you have been doing this long enough I am sure you know you did everything you could.

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly I know how you feel Rose, i feel like that when we lose one of ours.. even little Jericho that we only had a few days before the seizures took him. We're really sorry to hear about little JT.
He did have the best care and he had love and attention - it's all the bettas ask for .. that and bloodworms. |

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly I am really sorry to hear of all your losses, Rose. You are being very selfless deciding to cut back, and give the best care you can to the remaining ones. I am really sorry that you had to loose your little friends, as you were taking such good care of them. It must be particularly difficult to not even know what has happened, and to have them die so suddenly.
Many thanks for all your great advice on this board, and may it continue, even with your smaller betta family. |

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly Thank you all. I do not know what I would have done without the constant love and support I have felt from my friends at Fishlore this last few months. You are the best people in the world without a doubt. Thank you all.

| Re: Slowly getting out of the fish business, sadly Rose, I am so sorry. This is so sad to hear of this. You are probably by far the greatest Betta parent I've known. You're always so very caring and consoling when it comes to the care of other peoples Betta's also. You always go out of your way to help people. You are right though. Taking care of these special fish is hard work and it takes a lot of time and energy. You've had a rough few months not only with your fish, but with your own health as well and you do need to take a step back I think and take care of your own health too because these beautiful fish can't take care of themselves with there mommy. I do hope that you always have at least 2 Betta's to take care. They are what keep you going and happy. Take care of yourself my good friend. Natalie |
