Are these nests built on the surface of the water only, or could they be under the flat bottoms of the filter, in my case Eclipse 6 or 3, both of which have bubbles stuck to it. I don't know if that is just bubbles from the tank, or bubble nest bubbles??

Hey, i am VERY sorry but i dont know the answer to your question. but i actually have a bubble nest question -

SKip is a VERY VERY busy bubble nest builder. hes got a HUGE nest over taking his tank lol. and Calamarrie makes his when hes in the mood. but Oscar has never made them and doesnt. is that a bad thing, could that be a sign of sickness - hes NEVER made it though. - should i be worried

vk - The bubble nests are built on the water surface - some bubbles can float to other locations though.

miley - Don't worry about Oscar. We have 3 male bettas now and none of them has ever made a bubble nest, but our first betta Super Mario would build them often. It's just something that depends on their individual personalities so a totally healthy betta can go his whole life and never feel like doing a bubble nest.

I have those same bubbles on my filter and intake tube. I think those are created by the filter system. But I do believe they build under water too under an object because RJ has built one in the castle on the roof of it when he was in the 5 gallon.


Oh and to answer your question Val, that you asked in my post, I forgot answer it. The whisper 3i is an in-tank filter. Very easy and quiet. It also has air line tubing and an air pump so they can get oxygen at the same time it's filtering. It's pretty neat. Natalie

Hmm.. that's interesting.. i'd not seen a betta build a bubble nest under something that wasn't near the surface before. I learn something new everyday. -- but forget it by the next day.

thnx. Oscar never makes bubble nests. he just enjoys jumping when i play with him. hes very fiesty and bites too. lol!! hes just so much fun. i taught him another trick. if i like kiss at him he opens his mouth!! its the cutest!!! Miley

lol, well tell her you promise not to belly dance in a bikini to the song "Wild Thing" yea, it can be dangerous on the internet for young and pretty girls and youtube videos can be viewed by people not in fishlore. I'm sure she can always see what you video before you send it to youtube. just shoot the video close on the tank so you get a good focused view of your little betta and i think she'll be happy that it's a safe video for you to post.. and it'll make a fun memory to keep for yourself. we love to shoot video of our bettas.. they just like to be stubborn and not act up until we turn the camera off. : the little stinkers!

thnx!! i still havent asked yet. lol. we move in 2 days!!!!! i want to get the little babies in their new homes ASAP.. i told my sister that as soon as we move shes feeding hER betta and cleaning HER bettas tank. its not my job to take care of her betta. shes thinks it should be her but i should take care of it. shes nice and all but lazy. lol. LOL.. good think that little Betta has you. she's missing out on a lot of fun, it's so great to interact with the bettas. best of luck with that move and i know you'll be happy after you get them all settled in to their new home. You'll do a great job of taking them over and even if they pout a little, they'll really be happy inside.. you know bettas just have to pout because they're bettas. our Angel is queen of pouting.
