The Betta Show

We went a little nuts at the betta Show (darn Betta Bug! and brought home 5 Bettas. a wild mahachai pair and 3 show bettas - 2 males and 1 female. If you click on the 'our tanks' link, you'll find their pics.

The show was a lot of fun and we look forward to another show (i just don't know where we'll put the bettas from THAT show.. or the ones we got at this one ).

Here's a few of the pics we took:

Re: The Betta Show

great photos! Question... the first photo of the fish,, was that a mahachai? Is it your fish or one from the show? Great markings on that one. The second photo, I assume that is of all the fish up for the judging? Or were those fish for sale? The last photo.. awww what a cutie pie! I love her coloring... very sweet and what a great face she has. And the body had no markings, clear and pink as can be. beautiful!! OHh btw.. which fish of yours placed in the show? Glad you had a great time, It must have been a blast. I will have do some of my own research to find out when there are shows around where I live. Most likely in boston, but uggghh.. I will NOT drive into the city!! lol...
Thanks for posting the photos!

Re: The Betta Show

The mahachai were so stressed at the show, i didn't want to take photos and make them worse.. that's one of the butterfly entries.. my favorite one.

All the bettas in the beanie boxes were in the judging, only about 20-30 of those were part of the auction.

2 of the 3 dalmation bettas that we rescued to find a good home for are the ones that placed 2nd & 3rd. we put them in the show really so everyone would see them and that would help them get a good home.

http://www.ibcbettas.com/ - this (and the local betta chapter) is who put on the show we went to.

Re: The Betta Show

That would have been interesting to go and see. There was a aquarium society tank show off here on either Sunday or Saturday and I would have gone to see it but I had to work. There is another in September that I really want to go and visit.

lol, we didn't but the main reason we bought those 3 dalmations was to find them good homes at the betta show so they wouldn't die in the cups at the store. We already had a tank set aside for the mahachai pair and couldn't resist the 3 we got so now we are buying them each tanks and finding a place for them.. it's the Betta Bug. : Plus, we got them for a steal for show bettas - we were surprised to win them actually.

If you click on the 'our tanks' link at the bottom of this message, it will take you to pictures of our fish and tanks. the pictures of the mahachai are dim because they like lower light and i don't want to use a flash on them - they are a more timid type of wild betta. they can be kept together and the fry can stay in the tank with them too. we hope to soon take video of them when they are relaxed and showing their full colors and fins as they flirt with each other.

I love that fish in the fist pic too, he is a beauty. and that little girl is so sweet. Glad you had such a great time looking forward to hearing more about your adventures in fish land as your tanks continue to grow and for new wilds flirt and spawn.

Definately excited to see the video that you'll do of the mahachai when they're ready. I find these bettas to be fascinating.
