well now I am a bit worried

I called the LFS like Rose suggested to see what they fed Kronos. They fed him FD Blood Worms-- which he wont eat at my house right now. Which I did have them coated in Gel-Tek Ampicillin. Maybe if I just try feeding him without the med. He will eat the micro pellets though. I just wish he would be more active-- although he never has been since I got him, so maybe he is just laid back. Or he might just hate me because he swims when he thinks i can't see him.

Re: well now I am a bit worried

they do act different when they think we aren't watching - aslan likes to do things he knows we don't want him too for instance they're stinkers. he could be 'working' you too.. ask Rose about a Betta that would 'play sick'. I'm trying to remember - did you try daphnia on him?

Re: well now I am a bit worried

Find somewhere you can sit with a mirror on the table or desk and put a mirror that you can see the tank and he thinks you are not watching him. You will be amazed. I had a fish I thought was dying and I was so upset that I gave him all my time and had all the others so upset that they were so angry they would turn away when I fed them. He got fed and petted and pampered and played with and really played "sick fishie". Then one day I put a mirror on my desk so I could watch him and see how he was doing and you would have thought he was running the Indy 500 he was "race car driving fishie". Then if I started to turn my desk chair around he became "sick fishie" again. I loved him too much to find a way to spank his little butt. But we had a nice long talk and the extra attention was over and we went back to normal and he was fine from then on.

Re: well now I am a bit worried

That's the "dark side" to the Betta intelligence. They're such smart little characters and so funny when they get caught in the act and give you that look. And they just continue to amaze. Aslan has gotten in the habit of flaring at me (he loves my wife though. ) and it just makes me love the little stinker more. Is it any wonder that the betta bug bites so hard?

Re: well now I am a bit worried

Well, I decided to medicate him anyway... he thinks he is being punished. I dont have a hospital tank, so I put him in the cup, medicated that and sat it inside the tank in a breeder net. This way the water temp remains constant. I will be doing daily water changes. Hopefully he will eat in a few days.

Best of luck with your little guy.. he'll perk up for you and be thankful for the caring. He's in good hands and we look forward to hearing that he's improved.

Re: well now I am a bit worried

He is a little turd!!! I think he was playing sick fishy. : I got him to eat Daphnia- which I bought today just for him. I decided to let him loose into the tank. He was all over the place. Flaring and showing off, swimming all over. Turns out he just needed a time out!

Re: well now I am a bit worried

Just think they each have their own way of behaving and they will all be naughty and nice in their own ways and they will all expect their quality time in a different way. What is a mother to do?? : :P
