pineapple treat

Ok-- I know I shouldn't experiment with fishy foods, but I fed Cobalt a tiny piece of pineapple. I was eating it and he kept looking at me like "hey lady-- Share!"

Is that bad, or just some fiber like a pea?

Re: pineapple treat

I have given mine apple and other foods, the general rule is "if we can eat it so can they" BUT not if it is processed with salt or chemicals like vinegar or something that may be corrosive to their tummies (no tacos or burritos folks ) No fatty foods, should stick to fruits and veggies or raw liver probably. I did the raw liver thing too but it was hard to see them eat it and realize what it was so I quit it. Selfish of me I know. They like carrots and apple and peas and Alex likes strawberry but I make sure he does not get any seeds. I do not give anything that has any strings like celery or seeds like cucumber untill it is all removed. The otos love sweet potato. VERY small pieces folks.

Sorry folks NONE of these things replace the pea treats. They are just little fun treats.

OH I am glad to hear it! Cobalt didn't like the Strawberry (no seeds) he spit it out, but he did enjoy the pineapple. It was fresh pineapple, not the canned kind.

Re: pineapple treat

that's very interesting.. i hadn't thought of feeding bits of fruit to our bettas. i might have to share a little when we have fresh fruit (soft inside parts that should be chemical-free, especially if it's organic fruit). they love to stare at us when we eat and sometimes i do show them what i'm eating but hadn't entertained thoughts of feeding them some.. i love it! thanks.

Re: pineapple treat

Well I can't stand to be selfish when the poor little guy was practically begging. This is why I can't have a dog!

Re: pineapple treat

Cool I'll have to try that with RJ.

I have 2 dogs. Patch and Snow, both my babies. They love their food. The funny thing is though they both beg, but the older one Patch is horrible with it. Snow once he realizes he's not getting anything will back off and go lay down somewhere or will go eat his own food. I never trained him to do that he just learned it on his own. Patch on the other hand went to obedient school(even though he had to drop out) and was taught not to beg. Snow never went to obedient scholl. i trained him on some things by myself and I never have problems with him. Go figure. :P Natalie
