Yesterday I was out shopping, and visited the bettas at my local wally-world to make sure eveyone wasn't stacked up and had enough water inther cells. Plus, I'm still trying to figure out what color I want to get when my tank is finsihed cycling. What I found sickened me!!! There was a
betta in a gallon fish bowl with a plant stuck in it, but the plant was in a little plastic tray that had a hole for the roots to stick into the water, and the plastic tray completly covered the opening of the bowl so that there must have been very little oxygen that was able to get to the water. I propped the plastic tray up on a rock so that the roots were still in the water (i wouldn't wan't to kill the plant... it's not its fault) but that way air could circulate. the bowl was filthy! It breaks my heart to see the fish kept that way.
