Meet Karma

Here's a couple of pics of Karma. The water is very cloudy from the meds so it's hard to get a clear picture and her color doesn't show up as nice as it is in real.
She looks different from my other two females, extremely thin body and pointy head. She's probably been starving for a long time. She attacks her food like she's afraid someone will take it away! She probably had to compete for food with her sisters in the breeder's tank and it looks like she probably had to settle for whatever scraps she could find on the bottom. No wonder she wasn't used to eating from the top!
She's SO sweet and friendly! When I put my hand in the tank to do something she swims right over and rubs against my hand like a cat. She has no fear at all and loves to pose for the camera!

Re: Meet Karma

I love her! She is almost iridescent. I have never quite seen that shade of blue before and it is a lovely color.

You do indeed have a very nice group of little females. Are you going to leave them as individuals or introduce them in the same tank?

Good luck with them all. I am so glad that she is eating and attacking her food. She is truly getting better!

Re: Meet Karma

She is beautiful! Is she doing well? I know you had a rocky start with her b/c of her past treatment!

Re: Meet Karma

Her color is much more noticable in person than in a picture. The murky water (with meds) doesn't help either. She is an iridescent steel blue, especially under light. Her sister Noelle is also becoming a richer, brighter green every day with salmon colored belly and fins.

I'd love to put them together in a 10 gallon but it scares me too much. I heard that even though they can get along as babies they get more and more aggressive as they get older. Also Aenara is VERY aggressive. She would bully even the boys if she were in with them. My plan now is to try to divide my two 10 gallon tanks and put them in with Phlox and Lava as neighbours (with dividers) once they are out of quarantine. I'll see how that goes and then go from there.

Re: Meet Karma

Just be very careful if you put up dividers between males and females especially if they can see each other. Bettas are jumpers and can do tricks that you will never believe they can do. I just had a good lesson at that. I still have not any idea of how she jumped out of the tank. There was not any opening larger than a 3/4" circle.

That's kinda scary ((Rose)). I have space around my filter box...more than that circle. I need to fix that, maybe with taped saran wrap. It's so hard to imagine them getting out through a 3/4" circle! I was worried about that with loaches..real small openings even with them. Now I must consider Zen too. I'm glad you mentioned that.
