Algae bloom after every 50% water change/gravel vacuum?

It seems as if, in the past month, every time I do a half water change (which is once a week) along with a good gravel vacuum and a decoration scrub (every two weeks) for day or so after the cleaning, we experience an algae bloom.
It does NOT happen if I don't also vacuum the gravel. The tank is near a window and has live plants in it, but even with those factors, we don't generally experience a lot of algae (thanks inca snails!). The tank is in my living room and on display, so I keep it extremely clean (as it should be!) and am annoyed beyond measure when it clouds up for a day after all my hard work.
Needless to say, the snails LOVE it when the algae is in bloom, and stick their syphons out of their shell's as far as they can reach.
Anything you suggest for this, or should I just let it be as it ALWAYS clears up by the next day?
