Unsure...

Is it normal for a betta to have a ray that's longer than all the others on on of his fins? Its about a centimeter longer than all the others and makes him look funny when he's staring right at you although it doesn't seem to bother him.

i'm not sure what you mean... which fins? the dorsal (on his back) the caudal (his tail) the anal (on his underside) or his pelvic fins (the two long slender fins just behind his chin)

Thanks for the welcome.

and I'm not sure what the fins are called but it's the ones he swims with. His "arms".

I'll get a pic this afternoon.

Ok! Thanks! And just for fun, this is my betta. He was a class pet in my 8th grade class and the guys in my class named him. I nicknamed him Swishy.

My little Hermes has one of his pectoral fins larger than the other. I thought it was odd too, but never thought to ask about it. Glad to have wondered across this and saw that it's normal.

Hey! He's my precious baby!!!

Lol, for a while I was convinced he had popeye, but nope, he is just a bit lopsided! It's not really that noticeable unless you're looking for it
