New home for Gil

I just moved Gill from his small home to a larger one (75 gallons). I watched him good for a while and he is doing great. No-one is picking on him and he is picking on no-one. He seems to be very passive. My question is this...Gil has been in a small 2-gallon tank for over a year. Would this make him non-aggressive because of this confinement. This is the 1st time he has seen or been with other friends. I Have attached a pic of him racing his bud.

Re: New home for Gil

Gil has probably not decided what to do just yet, but I would watch all concerned for a week or so. *If he starts looking ragged someone has decided to nip him or if anyone looks too ragged then he has decided that he is going to be naughty. *He will probably be okay but you never know with a Betta for a few days just because they have never been around other fish from the time they were sexed until you add them to the tank.

Good luck and Beautiful tank. *I do hope it works out well with Gil. *He does look happy there.

Hello, Gil, it is nice to add you to our little Betta community. *You are most welcome to join the other special little Bettas that belong here.

Re: New home for Gil

I love that second picture. It definitely shows some personality. He does look like a very handsome and active and feisty fellow and I kind of like feisty in a Betta.

Re: New home for Gil

Handsome fish!! But then, he kind of looks like a darker version of my Myst, so perhaps I am biased?

You gotta love Bettas, don't you??

Re: New home for Gil

My eyes have been gils shadow since he took the nestea plunge. I will keep watching as Gil is my 1st. All seems very good now after a week, Gil said to tell you all thanks for bringing him to the club..He also wants to know who would like to join him for dinner next week probably some yard bird with candlelight with 3 violins.)

Re: New home for Gil

Are you running a Betta dating service? What with the candlelight and violins LOL
He is very pretty. My betta loved being in our 75G. I did have to make sure there were a couple of floating plants for when he wanted to rest or sleep(or just scarf up the food that got hung in HIS plant ) He soon asserted himself and was the king of the tank so watch that Gourami when Gil asserts himself. Beautiful tank

Re: New home for Gil

LOL well if I were up to the challenge of little ones I have 3 ladies who might vie for his attention. Although he may have to check with their 2 brothers to see if they give their approval LOL. The dinner sounded so good to them though, they are giving energetic fin waves in your direction. (unfortunately you would not want them to meet Gil just now as they are being treated for a bit of ich).

Re: New home for Gil

Well we are in Southeast Nebraska and they came from California, so they are quite the little travelers. They just do not know it LOL. I would truly be tempted but have not got the facilites or the stamina for the little ones so am afraid that they must stay sequestered. The fowl and candlelight would have fascinated them I am sure though.

Re: New home for Gil

I love your pics but am concerned about the gouramis with Gil. I am worried you will wake up one morning and find gil torn to shreds or dead. These 2 fish should not be together and it doesn't take long for the kill to happen. Sorry!!!!!

Re: New home for Gil

No need to apologize...Thanks for info...I will keep close eye on them...Is it possible they could get along because there has been no issues and the fish in question know the others are there..in fact they swim by each other and don't even seem to notice each other..

Re: New home for Gil

Chipster, what a LOVELY Betta. I LOVE it I am so glad you put it in a 75 gallon tank. Poor thing must regard the tank as HEAVEN because of the conditions that he lived in before (I meant the 1 cup of water that it's been in at your LFS). I wish all the Bettas in the world could have such large homes as yours does. I've been thinking ... that when my 75 gallon tank is set up, and if my other types of fish will be compatible with it, I'll get a Betta. I just want to save at least one Betta from the misery it goes through at my LFS.

Re: New home for Gil

Yea he's luvin it...All fish in this tank are getting along great right now. I think the bigger tank helps keep aggression to a minimum. Thanks for your compliment.
