I'm having a problem

A while back I started using the natural stuff rid fungus for some fungus my betta had. I stopped using it about 2 weeks ago now my problem is the brown stuff (looks just like the rid fungus stuff) is taking over my tank. It's on the plants the cave the glass on my tank. I remove it when cleaning the tank as best i could. It just wipes off easily but comes right back. I rinse the filter off good in used tank water. so i don't know what to do about it. I was thinking of putting some new filter floss in there together with the current filter to seed it then get rid of the old stuff thinking it has to much of the rid fungus on it.

What do you guys suggest?

It sounds like Diatoms, which is a type of algae that appears in newly cycled tanks. It usually goes away on it's own in a few weeks.

I agree as well, it does sound like diatoms a new tank syndrome. I used to just clean it off and eventually it stopped.

It may have coincided with the rid-fungus, but I have never heard of diatoms appearing due to using rid-fungus unless others have experienced this happening.

I have had the exact same problem with Rid Fungus....It turned all my white lilly flowers brown.....My tanks have been up and running for a long time so it was not the new tank syndrom...

Just wash the plants off and do a water change....

I get that on the glass and decorations in my 55 which has never had meds in it. Also all the other tank will get that on the glass when I wait to do a water change(also never used meds in them). I think that it is just algae/dirt that forms and all tanks have to routinely be cleaned and the glass always has to be wiped down. I think IMO that is just a normal part of fish keeping and tank maintenance.

It could be natural, could also be that there\s something in the meds that encourage it's growth.

It looks like diatoms ("brown algae") to me. I get a lot of it in one of my tanks, which has been established eight months and has never had Rid Fungus in it. It behaves as you describe: You wipe it off and it comes right back.

If it were the Rid Fungus itself, it would get less and less as you remove it. It wouldn't "reproduce" itself.

I completely understand what you all are saying however all the brown stuff is exactly where the flow from the filter is which makes me think it's the rid fungus left on the filter that comes off as the water flows. But heck I'm new to all his stuff Thanks for all your advice it's much appreciated

You can check out this great link that I have provided. It has photos of different kinds of algae and I think you will find your same type of algae in the photos.
