A few months ago Stewie came down with what people suggested as fin rot (black destroyed fins, etc). I treated him with trisulfa in a hospital tank and he got all better!

Last week he has started to just float on his side on the top of his 10g tank sitting on top of the floating plant that I added to his tank a few months back. He is barely eating or anything.

He is growing skinny and has some minor discoloration. Some minor fin damage looks like as well. I set up the hospital tank again and got it nice and clean for him, but I don't even know what's wrong with him or what to use to treat his problems.

Found a lot of snails in his tank lately too so I'm going to try to take them out for if he gets better so he can go back home.

I dunno how to help him. He's fighting so hard and I feel so helpless. I saved him from PetCo over a year ago. Could he just be getting old and is dying?

Is he in with other fish? I ask because you said you moved him to a hospital tank.
Is he eating?

I remember reading an article about snails and them being a carrier of certain parasites.
I've been looking for it and can't seem to find it. I'll continue to look.

Yes, snails often carry parasites. I haven't had any problem with them though.

I'd guess parasites jungle parasite clear tablets work really well.

The only tank mate he had was the little dwarf bushy nose pleco. I bought some of that Jungle LifeGuard and some Maracyn 2. Starting with the LifeGuard since it is suppsoed to treat a wide spectrum of things and see if that helps any.

Hoping it's good stuff. Bad to mix both meds?

He hasn't been eating much the past day or so. Has only eaten before then this past week if I put food right in front of his face he will grab a pellet that floats over his face. Has just been laying on his side at the top of the tank.

He passed on tonight. Found him against the filter intake when I got home from work. I'm goign to miss that little guy. He was the coolest fish I have ever been around. RIP Little buddy.

Awwww, I'm so sorry you lost Stewie. Yes, betta fish can be the coolest fish, and so smart. It's so hard to lose them.
