I was just in Walmart and

They must have gotton a new shipment of bettas because they were all sooo active and their hideous cups were cleaned and they all were staring at me. I wanted to take them all home. I wish I was rich and could keep tons. They are soo darn cute.

Yes, it can be torture looking at betta's. I saw a beautiful crowntail in Petco the other day that I really, really, really wanted to take home with me, but self control is one of my few virtues and I managed to drag myself away.

Luckily I've now been so turned off by bettas that I am not tempted anymore. But man I used to be pretty bad about that...

I'm still chronic. However I'm trying to avoid temptation.

yep, i went to petsmart and looked at each and every betta. they had the TINIEST little females and many veil tails and crownies. Luckily all were similar to bettas I have, so i wasn't overly tempted, WHEW! but in case there was something special, i had one eye on the 15 gal divider to maybe convert Picasso's old tank. LOL!

I try and avoid looking at Wal-Mart betta. The few times I have it drove me into a deep depression. Uneaten food at the bottom of cups were covered in mold, they were so pale and slow moving... a few were dead. Its heart breaking. Wal-Mart should just stick to selling supplies and leave the animal care to other places. Of course, unfortunately, some animal shops treat bettas poorly as well.

I have this store that treats there bettas really well and they got some new bettas in and I've been keeping myself from buying this gourgous male with a coloring that I've never seen before. I caved today after two weeks. I really don't have a tank for him so he is in my 10 gal. The baby fish can wait to move in until the ammonia levels go down in the 5 gal.

The two walmarts here in NY dont sell bettas anymore. just all the accessories. Petsmart and Petco have healthy looking bettas. Males in petlanddiscount are dead or dying, have about quarter inch of residue on the bottom of the cups. a few dead ones fully covered in a fungus.

I wish the stores would get a clue.. how often do customers feel good about a store that's dirty, smelly, etc? But they expect people to just accept that for little living creatures?!
