New Carpet - something to worry about?

I am wondering what (if anything) I should do with the fish? I’ve heard the new carpet warnings about keeping the windows open, keeping kids from spending a lot of time laying on it, etc. I don’t recall any warnings about aquariums. Should I turn off the filters for the day or longer? I have to do a water change and move Popsicle so we can put the carpet down anyway; should he go into another room? What advice/experience do you guys have?

Any vapors that get into the air can get into the water during the gas exchange, so if you can get him into another room for a bit, that may be a good idea.

I also would NOT turn off the filters for any amount of time as your bacteria can suffocate from lack of fresh water and oxygen...putting you into a minicycle.

Fishies is right (sorry, I forgot to answer that question).
At least you've got two 5g tanks to move. If I ever do any floor work in my livingroom, I've got a 90g, a 10g, and a 30g to move. I've got a 200g that's going into my basement, and sometime in the next year, I'm hoping to redo the carpet.

If I ever get a place with a basement I can have a fish room in ...if I was redoing the floors I think I would go with some sort of ceramic tile type floor....pretty and can't be damaged by water spills like a carpet or wood floors can. ( shakes her head and wakes up...lol) If I had to move I have a 36 gal a 29 gal , 2-5 gals and a 1 1/2 gal to move...lol

Maybe leave then running where they are and cover them with a sheet to prevent any fibers,fumes..maybe that would work instead of moving and then moving them back?
