Lonely Angel

A face only a mother could love... well then I guess it's lucky that I'm his mother now!

One of the advantages (and dangers ) of working at PetCo is the chance to stare at all of the bettas while waiting for customers. And there are some truly beautiful bettas there - some crownails that look similar to MM's Dunn, and a beautiful blue butterfly halfmoon. And yet, with all of the gorgeous bettas, I fell in love with this scrawny little guy...



That's my newest addition, Jeff. After debating for three days, I finally brought him home last night. He's colored up since I first saw him (he had just dull, muddled splotches which are now more like the almost marble pattern you can see here)





The next two aren't very good pictures, but they show his true color better. (His tail is much darker than in the previous pics)

Lol, I would if I could! But parents said if I brought another tank home that they'd get rid of one too Oh well, just gotta wait a while, maybe a year or so...

He is such an adorable little guy! I am so glad that you adopted him. Usually people just want the big brightly colored bettas and the ones that are sick, beat up, or just a little unusual looking are left to die in their cups. Congrats on your new boy! I bet he will grow into a very healthy handsom betta

Thanks to everyone who complimented my new boy. I do find Jeff adorable despite (or because of) his awkward looks. He's a real sweetheart and has warmed up to me quickly, but apparently I was overdue for another picky eater because he won't touch his pellets or dried bloodworms. I'll try the frozen bloodworms tomorrow and see how he likes those.

I love him, he's a great little double-ray combtail I think, with those beautiful big eyes that will melt any Betta lover, especially as he gets older. His fins should get larger and fuller too. Congrats!
