He is a CT
The best was to explain it is when you look at the edge of the tail the fringe is like a comb...short fuzzy looking, but pretty. Probably a HM/CT mix, by the sound of things.
I like CTs better and can't wait til I find some again.
Here's some articles which will explain better than I can.

The combtails are just crowntails with less webbing.

I saw your post on another thread and thought there were more fish in your signature so I came looking for info! What an incredible find Danny is! He is beyond gorgeous! And the before and after pics really show how much a little love can go a long way with these fishies!!!

Yep, I think I heard that comment too, but then Zero, Barney, and Danny would not have found new homes with you so bless you and he is a a darling.

I love him and will look forward to the next one.....

Rose

A Big Congratulations to you and to Danny for finding each other. I could not believe the change in him in that 30 minutes!

WOW, he's gorgeous! I love that tank too!

I take my dog in for a grooming appointment tomorrow. There are at least two bettas there that I've been looking at every time I go into that store aaaand I've got an empty breeder net just waiting to hold somebody until I could get a little tank set up and cycled. I swore no more bettas after Posie died and I was doing real good with that until Andy started his job and I started coming back here and looking at everyones pretty lil' fisheys!!

I dunno, I lost Posie and then our kitty died a month ago and hubby just informed me he's going to sell the SW tank. Son#3 lost his Festivum and now he wants to break down his tank and get a lizard. What's one more handsome little fishy in the grand scheme of it all ,right? Or maybe I should just stay the heck away from the betta board!

WOW Karen, you have to stop getting betta boys when I'm out for the weekends, then I feel like I've missed the whole wonderful parade when I'm back!

Congrats on Danny, he is a stunner! Great colour... but I can see just why you picked him, look at that soft expressive face and BIG puppy eyes! Who could say no!?

I don't know much about Bettas but he is one gorgeous fella. I'm still looking for one for my 5 gal. I can't believe the before and after pictures. Is that really what happens to these fish? Really? in half n' hour? Also, you are quite a photographer! Enjoy.

Jess.....Thank you! Yes, it is really what happens to Bettas once they come out of a cup and into a filtered enviorment.....It usually takes a couple of days to see the difference but this little fella perked right up!
