It's fun getting to know new bettas and learning about their personalities. Shandy and Tang have only been with me a little over a week now, and are finally starting to warm up to me. Shandy's a little more cautious and shy, and getting some really beautiful gold streaks in his red fins. I think he's going to colour up really nicely.
Tang was reserved when he first arrived, much smaller than Shandy and with fins that looked like they'd seen the bad side of a garbage disposal.

He's healing up really nicely. He's also developed quite the attitude! Rather pushy, actually.

Yesterday the boys were fasted and this morning was pea-for-breakfast day. I cut a half a small pea, shell it, and then hold it gently between my fingers so that it comes just under the surface of the water. When the boys are hungry, they will all eat from my hand, even the shy ones, but this was the first pea experience that Shandy and Tang have had with me.
Well, Tang is not shy. He started flaring and circling my finger... I figured he would chill out in a minute when he realized I was just feeding him. But no. He was TICKED that I had my fingers in his tank, and he obviously wasn't 100% sure what I was doing, or whether he approved. So he rushed up FAST and bit my thumb!! It startled me, and I jumped back. Tang was already attacking the piece of pea I dropped, looking very pleased with himself... I guess it was just his way of making me feed him the way HE wanted me to.
