| Two Male Bettas Together!!! |

| It doesn't matter how they did it. It is not safe. A betta's mood can change in a split second. The fact that there are two male bettas in a single point disappoints me. What disappoints me more is that there are fancy guppies in there too, which would also be a VERY likely target for a betta to attack due to confusion with the tails. And on top of everything, the tank seems quite bare, there are definately not enough hiding spots especially considering the amound of aggression that can come from the inhabitants. |

| There does seem to be a little tension in that tank . My thoughts are they are both new additions , and the video was made in the hope they would start to fight . Not a good idea ! |

| The dark one is terrorizing the light guy....It would be a matter of time before he attacks...You can already see it coming! I'm NOT impressed at all.... |

| Irresponsible or just completely ignorant of the facts fish keeper - nothing good can come of this!
I bet not all of the fish are still alive. Cruel! |

| everytime I come across of something like that in youtube I flag it for animal cruelty.
well, the ones that are more explicit, since these dont actually show the fish fighting... |

| Yes, they're rather far from getting along peacefully.
I"m not sure if anyone noticed, but the blue's tail is very ragged and torn so there may have been some fighting previously.
Fish aren't stupid... if the paler one knows there's no way he can win a fight he won't engage and will run, which is exactly what he's doing. Doesn't mean they're getting along in any way, or that it won't come to all out fighting before long. |

I also have a friend who knows someone who kept two males together in their tank and they died of natural causes. How these people can pull such things off I dont know, but I hope at the least it was a tank they had them in. I dont encourage it, and I just posted this video to see what you guys thought. I have a pretty good idea of that now. |

| Basically it comes down to territories just like any other aggressive fish... if your tank is large enough and the fish have lived together or in a community tank previously (cup bettas definitely wouldnt act like this) then its possible for them to coexist in the same tank, it is most definitely not a good idea at any rate though... even with enough room for each one to have a territory there is eventually going to be confrontations which could lead to all out fighting and or a dead betta. |

| yes, I heard a similar story and was like: "how in the world..."
it is just a combination of circumstances. Like getting two mild tempered bettas, that came from the right place, at the right time... (sigh) |

| I personally think this should only be done in 150gal+ tanks - even then it's not the best thing that can be done.
I think when there is one dominating betta and one smaller weak one, they co exist without fightis because the small one knows he would not win, and is always on the run from big guy. |

| If there's anyone to tell you whether or not they got teeth, it'd be me or anyone else who was holding betta food above the water surface waiting for them to jump and grab. Mango (my betta) missed the bloodworm... got my finger instead and he left a mark around my finger in the shape of his jaws |

All the Betta I've ever owned haven't left a mark on my finger, though. |

| All fish have teeth of some sort, some have more of a 'biting' type of teeth and others have more of a 'crushing and chewing' type of teeth.... bottomfeeders usually have the latter while most top level and mid level fish have the biting type |

| I was at walmart today, and somebody had stuck two bettas in the same cup. (there was an empty cup next to it, so I'm sure somebody did it on purpose). Both had their fins torn and one had red marks on it's face, but they were still alive. I couldn't bear to leave them, so I put one back in it's original cup. I hope I got to them in time. |

| No I didn't. It was so busy there... being a saturday afternoon and all the U of I students were moving in this weekend.... Not like it would have mattered. They wouldn't have done anything. They have over 150 bettas in cups right now (not kidding, 2 whole end isles) It was heartbreaking, there were so many that had died already. |

Ive never even seen 2 male betas together.. just always one in the to small cups | Based on what happened to my two boys when one jumped the divider in my (no longer divided) 10 gal when I was gone for a 3-day weekend, they basically bite at one another and shred fins.
Thank God I either arrived home shortly after the jump, or Hollywood was smart enough to hide from Sumo (who was clearly the bruiser of the the two), so both were still alive but with large chunk missing from Hollywood's caudal fin and a few damaged scales. This happened in May I think (there's a thread about it around here somewhere), and while Sumo was uninjured and rehomed, Hollywood's fin is still not quite recovered, despite having his whole 10 gal back, frequent water changes (down to 2/week now...they were daily right after his injury in an attempt to prevent finrot or other disease) and vitachem and garlic-soaked food fairly frequently.
Nearly gave me a heart attack at the time though, as I walked by the tank to unpack my bag...I was about 10 feet past when I suddenly realized that there was a red fish on the LEFT side of my tank instead of the right...*whipped around and grabbed a fish net* |
