peas

I read giving bettas half a pea once or twice a week is good for them but i can't get the pea to float.

What I do is I defrost it, remove the skin and cut it up into six pieces but it always sinks and my betta only trys to eat floating food.

Could some explain how to get the peas to float in small pieces?

Cheers

You can't get the peas to float....What you have to do is wait for the Betta to see it in your hand and drop it in front of him so he sees it.......He should chase it and grab it before it hits the bottom....Make sure it is small enough for him to fit it in his mouth .....I usually vut them up into 1/4 and that seems to be a good size.

The peas are something you just have to feed by hand. The Bettas all seem to learn pretty quick to come get that treat.

I use tweezers for feeding peas to my bettas. For the most enthusiastic eaters I just release the pea and they chase it down, but a couple of my boys need me to hold it at the surface until they swim right up to eat it. Peas don't float, but this is the best way I've found for the slow eaters to get them.

I have to feed them by hand, Prissy refuses to chase them once they sink.
Just last night I had to fish a couple pieces out with a turkey baster.

I soak my pea bits in garlic guard, making for a doubly delicious treat. They chase em down and chomp up like lightening!!

Peas are definitely good to give a betta 1-2 times a week, and can also be used to remedy swim bladder and other problems.

My Consuela will viciously hunt down any tiny scrap of food that floats (or sinks!) anywhere in her tank, but all my boys have to be fed non-floating foods by hand. You just have to learn a routine depending on the personality of your betta.

Ours like to act like that so we'll give them more. Then they go after the pieces that fell.
