I didn't notice anything this morning, but sometime this evening while I was looking at my boy, I noticed a clearish, whitish, strand hanging from his tail, and the fin on top his body. (Sorry, I don't know the names of the fins xD)

The water parameters are all normal, and the temperature is about 80 degrees.

He's in a cycled 2.5 gallon tank.

I really hope this isn't anything serious and I'm just overreacting. So soon after I got him too

Does it look like his fins are torn any? Do you have a picture that you could post?

I tried getting pictures, but the white strand is hard to see, if even visible at all. I attached one though, you can kindof see it.

That looks kind of like he's picked up some debris, but I'd watch to see if it increases any for the slight possibility of fungus.
