Ikaika

Okay guys, not much has happened between then and now so there are no stories for days 3-5, however, Ikaika ate her first betta pellet (soaked in garlic juice). She was a little shaky at first, but once she realized it was food, she attacked it. Thank god for garlic. Here's some records of her damage:

Temporary Damage

I'm still treating, but not for finrot, she has minor ICH. I'm raising the temp and was about to give her a little salt, but I have a clown pleco in the tank too, so I'll just let the ich run its course at high temps for about a week and hopefully it'll clear up

Permanent Damage

Unfortunately, she has some permanent damage. She has a broken back (hopefully not from bad care, but rather inbreeding), she has permanent gill damage from ammonia, so she's constantly going up for air, and might be traumatized by such lack of care.

Resolved Damage

Fins have started to regenerate and regrow, she has some more color, she's more active than she was in the container

Unknown Damage

Your input is needed here, Ikaika has the bloat still, but still doesn't want to eat much, so I cant feed her the peas I want to feed her, any ideas? And today, I noticed her just resting on the suction cup of my heater, could she be enjoying the heat she never felt, or is it worse?

I'd say just observe, since youre giving her the best if cares... maybe some vitachem may help her?

I've noticed that my bettas tend to linger near the heater when they're not feeling well. I think it's for two reasons -- one, the warmth, and two, because if they rest on the suction cup, there is a lot less space to cover when they need to breathe. So, I would keep a close eye on her, but don't fret too much about her laying on the heater. I really hope she feels better soon... poor thing, sounds like she really had a hard time of it.

Does she have a little air stone maybe? Set to low near the heater, it might be something she'd like.
