Well, I've been on holiday camping (There was enough rain to fill a whole ocean!) for 4 days. When I left Navajo was getting much better. Now, I've come back. Guess what? No, I'm not digging a little fishy grave... (Yet)

He is on his side, at the top of his tank, his belly is SWOLLEN, and his bottom fin is half it's normal size with a red edge! What on earth has happened! I'm so torn... I don't know if it's curable, I've never seen anything like this before! I suspect it's a kind of internal parasite. Oh ****!

Sounds like fin rot maybe? Although I'm not sure with the red edge. Poor boy. I hope he gets better soon! I'm sending good fishy healing vibes your way!!

Aw man... I lost him in the night. His gills looked like they had been blown up by a balloon... I think he must have had a serious internal infection.

OMG!! What a horrid weekend we are all having!!!!! Believe me i am crying for you too now!!! I'm so worried for my others!!! With JB dying too (Allies boy) i'm hoping that there must be a betta party over at rainbow bridge that would be too good to miss!!!

Unfortunately with Betta sp these days it's hit or miss with the properly bred or the LFS rescues. Betta are so hard to keep for long.
I am so sorry you lost him. We've all been loosing too many betta boys these days.

sooo sorry for your loss. i know it hurts and its confusing. but its so hard to see them suffer. i'd rather they pass than have prolonged suffering.

Awwww Hatchet.....I am so sorry about Navajo. I haven't been on the forum for some days, and I just saw this thread. You gave him the best life you could. Just find peace in the fact that his last days were happy. I hope you are doing alright.

I am so sorry to hear about Navajo. I had so many hopes that he would be fine for you. I am just devastated for you and am so sorry that you are going through this.

Take it easy and do know that you did everything you could to make his last days the very best they could be. Sometimes things are just beyond our control.

Hatchet, this is awful news!! After you worked so, so hard to help him and make him his old fishy self again... I'm with everyone else on this, you really did everything you could for him and he was so lucky to live his last days in the care he deserved, finally.

Thanks everyone. It's so sad how Navajo had to have such a bad life.

Anyway, let's look on the bright side! I have a spare nano tank... I'm thinking maybe Betta imbellis (My LFS carries some I think), perhaps 1 male with ember tetras or a male and female with endelers or glowlight danios... I haven't heard much about imbellis so any input is welcome!

There betta be a big party for all the Betta up there, yeah! It would be so cool to see all our lost fin babies playing together.

That would be one big party. Holly and the 7 betta boys are all up there waiting to greet whomever is coming to the betta rainbow bridge rice patty field.

Poor Navajo...may he rest in the happy seas with Davy Jones....and may my TEN babies seek him out and offer him comfort should he get lost along the way! I've put out an extra penny on my stand to pay his toll to fish heaven...
