Well here's my new Betta

His name is Bacchus (the Roman god of wine and partying). Can anyone ID him for me? I can try and get a better pic with his fins out as soon as he's not stressed. I already think I want to get him a lady friend. Also, will the color return to his fins as he gets healthier? Also, I picked up that $5 special at Walmart so he has all silk plants. Without further ado:

He's a beauty, congratulations & welcome to Bacchus.

You should see quite an improvment in his color in the next couple of days.

As far as a lady friend, now, I don't have personal experience with this, so search the forum, it's not advised to keep them together, so she should have her own tank.

He's a very handsome Veiltail...He will get his color back in a few days....I wouldn't reccomend getting him a lady friend unless you plan on keeping them in seperate tanks....Bettas do best when kept alone....

Congratulations on your new boy......He's a real looker!

I love his face! congrats and yes, like the lucy and MM already mentioned, bettas are better kept alone, otherwise there will be horrible fights.

Alright no problem. No more, lol.

Oh, and if you were curious about his name, my 10gallon is located in my bar, and his color reminds me of red wine.

Yes, he is a beautiful shade of "Merlot" but he is also going to have some gorgeous blue shimmering through when he colors up....

Great name for him.....I LOVE it!

Beautiful boy! His overall color will brighten as he settles in and gets some good quality food and care.

It looks like he may have butterfly coloring, which is when the end of his fins aren't colored. If he does, the end of his tail won't color up, but I think its a beautiful pattern in bettas!

Well, in the past week, he's really started looking better. The clear parts of his tail have started to turn a kind of iridescent purple/blue, and so have the fins that hang on the lower parts of his body. He looks very handsome, and I'm planning to add a few more Cories to the tank; the Peppered Cories have a kind of iridescent sheen as well under the right light, not a dull gray like at the pet store. I guess then I'll switch out all the natural looking rock for marbles, maybe...still thinking on that one. Anyways, no pics tonight but maybe tomorrow, just wanted to give an update.
