Correction For Fish Protector - Important!

Out of the blue I received this email tonight from the tech at Kordon. It gives corrected instructions for use of Kordon Pond Protector, which now is NOT the same as Fish Protector.

Sorry for the length, I just copied the whole email.

Rose, or mods, would someone please replace the article stickied at the top of the betta forum with this.

BTW I have been using Pond Protector at the high dosages he first said were right. Apparently there is no way to overdose, I have had a couple of losses, but am thinking they were due to the Blue Gourami continually picking at the dwarf gouramis til they died.

Val Hallam. In reviewing the effectiveness of our answers to
incoming questions, I note that my previous answer to your inquiry
was not as clear as it should have been. I have provided additional
information below in red. I hope it will still be of help to you. /.R3

I think this guy doesn't know what he is doing. I noticed that Pond FP is more concentrated and contacted Mr. Rofen with the same question: can I use Pond FP for my tanks and what is the recommended dosage PER 1 GALLON. He wrote back to me:"One ounce per 150 gallons". I do not have a 150 Gal tanks! So if I am correct:

1 mL is 20 drops
1 oz - 30 mL
It gives us 600 drops per 150 Gal or

4 drops of Pond Fish Protector per 1 Gal (not 10 drops Mr. Rofen recommended).

Correct me if I am wrong with my math. I hate to overdose my fish that's why I want to be perfect with all the measurement.

Hmmmm, interesting. His new measures seem right for the Fish Protector, but I just can't seem to find it anywhere. I have been using 1 fl ounce in my 55g every change...........but will be back to 2 tsp. That is quite a large difference.

I have been using this product for 2 years, and really like it and all Kordon products, so will keep using it. Your calculations are prob correct - I just have a mental block with that kind of figuring - you are a whiz!!!

In his defense, at least he attempted to correct his mistake - surprised he had the original email, which was sent at least 5 months ago.

Those instructions he gave were for regular fish protector. That is what he said in the last line of the green highlighted section. Your calculations look correct for the Pond Fish Protector.

Well according to the dropper that I have 16 drops is a ml. and that is the number I learned in nursing school but you can get different size droppers so I think that is why he specified a medicinal dropper. I think I am going to just use one of my insulin syringes which is what I generally do when I really need to get down to the precise measurement on things.

Rose

For those of you who do not have access to the syringes, the drug stores do sell a type of baby medication doser that will measure small dosages of things that works very well and is very accurate.
