I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

I have my fish for 3 yrs and 5 months. When I got him he was a tiny lil fish. He always was with me, I used to take him with me to my office every day. I took him with me every where I went. I love him so much, But since yesterday I found out that he is dying. I have him here on my desk next to me, talking to him because I don't want him to dye alone. He was my best friend. My husband just told me that he is going to get me anoter one, but he doesn't understand that I want my fish, not another one. I had my fish way before a got married.I'm mad at him because he don't understand my feelings, he thinks that I'm crazy, but I don't care. I love my fish . What I'm going to do

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

I am so sorry about your fish and it is so sad to lose the friends we have in our tanks. We all have lost some of our little ones and while it is horrible and we miss them, it shows you how much you love them. They would not want us to quit functioning because their time has come. It sounds like your fish had a happy life and not a short one. You raised him and he became just like a child to you. (Believe me I know what that is like!) While you may not believe this at this time, there is going to come a day when, because of the love you have for this little fellow, you will want to have another one.

Blue Fishie will be remembered in your heart and mind and he, as a Betta, would not want to be the cause of distress.

I am so sad for you. I hope you are okay. I am so sorry for the situation you are in.

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

I'm sorry to hear about your fish also. Rose really said it all but I just wanted to emphasize how you have definitely given your little fishie a wonderful life. Spending lots of time with him and loving him so much. He couldnt have asked for a better mommy. He's had a good, long life. Many betta owners do not get to have the companionship of their little buddies as long as you did and its something to be grateful for.

My one piece of advice would be to try and remember the good times that you've had with Blue Fishie. I think it will make it easier for both of you.

If you want to you can even share some stories with us about him. We love to hear cute betta stories and I'm sure you have as many as we all do.

I'm sorry. It is so hard to lose a fish or any pet. You must have taken really good care of him because he lived a long time for a Betta.

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

Everyone indeed has said it all already but I agree and I, too, know what it is like to lose a fish that you love so much. My Jesse did not live nearly as long as yours has (with me anyway) but when I found he had passed that morning I cried all day long. I had no idea that I was so attached to him. I was without a fish for a month or so and found that I missed the companionship and figured if I could help more bettas get better lives that was what I intended to do. Now I have 2 more bettas (separate tanks of course as they are both males) and sometimes I think they truly believe I am THEIR pet. I sing to them, they watch me play computer games. We have an amazing time. Raspy also likes to play with the tip of a pen on the outside of his tank and Lilex LOVES the camera.

Such personalities with these fish. I will probably own bettas for the rest of my life.

I am sorry for your situation. Please do let us know how you and Blue Fishie are doing.

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

I'm sorry about your Betta. They are great little companions and a joy to have. It is hard with any pet loss, however, just think of the wonderful life he had with you and not being neglected in some fish store. I will be sad when my Big Boy Betta dies but there are so many poor little Bettas kept in those god forsaken bowls, I know I will "rescue" also!

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

I know Blue Fishie is still here, but just think about this. There is a Memorial thread in the Betta Section here. Those of us who have wished to have written a small story about the little friends we have lost and perhaps a picture. It may help if you can write a memorial to Blue Fishie when he passes or you could read the things the others have written and know that you are not alone. I think it does help to know that there are others who are going or have gone through the same thing.

Again, let me say that I am so sorry your fish is so ill.

a bettas life expectancy is about 4 years, and thats if they have been really well looked after - he was lucky to have such a wonderfull mommy. let us know how everything goes.

Re: I'm so sad my betta fish Blue Fishie is dying

Perhaps they can live 4 years, but by the time they get to the lfs they are already old usually. I think most people only have their Bettas a year or two. It's really too bad they don't last longer.
