| learning the hard way
I thought I did a fool proof job of dividing the bookshelf tanks being a general contractor and all. So I therefore filled the water all the way to the top..............Low and behold last night I went to feed the betta's and there it was  ................Flame was swimming in the same side as Pink with 2 big old chunks missing from his tail. Other than that he was fine. I built the divider so it actually touches the top cover all the way accross...................However if the little lid that opens in the front for feeding and stuff is left open, they can actually jump over in that small area, which is exactly what Flame must have done. When I found him the little lid was open........................The water level is now about an inch low. |

| Rick, this is why I own 7 betta tanks! I'm so afraid of that happening....Maybe you should put something across the top of the divider....

| it happened to me with rafikki and omone also..live n learn..the divided tanks rock the bomb just gotta keep the water a bit lower..those buggers can fly I swear!! and karen, divided tanks are so much less work and so much more room for more bettas  | |

Are the boys OK? | The boys are fine...............I actually think I caught it early on. Flame is such a wuss and Pink is just not very aggressive so it could have been much worse. There divider is crystal clear and they can see each other no problem, but they really never flare at each other so we avoided catastrophe.............Now had it been ace instead of Pink, we probably would have had a dead betta.  ..........Its all good now. | |

| I have had that happen with ALL of my divided...which is why my 5 guys are getting their own tanks soon. Prince can wiggle thru any tiny opening. But he has torn his fins doing so. | |

| OMG................Please no  ....................I can't get tanks for each betta. 9 and counting now. My friends will comit me if I get anymore. They already think I'm a complete nuthouse. Shoot, nobody I even know has an aquarium let alone 9.  | |

2. 80 gal cichlid
3. 40 gal goldfish
4. 15 gal guppie
5. 10 puffer
6. 6 gal bookshelf divided
7. 6 gal bookshelf divided
8. 28 gal salty nano reef
9. 6 gal nano FOWLR
And of course a 1000 gallon koi pond makes 10 really, especially if I enclose the patio like I'm thinking of doing. That might be a bad idea though cause then I'd have all kinds fo room for more tanks  | |

| Oh, poor Flame, you must have been so surprised to see them together. 
Probably as surprised I was to look over and see my ADF hopping on the living room floor. lol
I hope Flame isn't hurt to badly. |

| OK got ya Rick....I have 8 tanks and 7 of them are singleton Betta tanks! My sons girlfriend is trying to get to know all of them lol...It's not easy explaining to people....I just say I do it because I can! | |
