Make sure you do a slow acclimation when he gets there..... | Should I do a 2 hour one instead of a 1 hour one then? Introducing the water every 30 mins? |

| What I did was float the bag....After 15 minutes I opened it and dropped a little water in the bag and kept it floating....I kept adding drops ofwater for around 40 minutes and then slowly introduced them into their new home... |

| Just remember to keep the water he's in out of your tank!
Can't wait to see him! I'm hoping to get a boy from Aquabid next week myself... have him all picked out, it's so exciting. |

| Hatchet, didn't you say that he was coming from a local area? If so then he should be used to the local water. Then he will not need as long an acclimation as if he came from somewhere long away. I would put about 100 ml of water in about every 3 or 4 minutes after you open his bag (from the tank) and open the bag right away and turn the edges back and make a cuff and borrow one of your mom's clothes pins (clothes pegs) and peg him to the edge of the tank so he won't sink and then you can let the bag hang there and keep adding a small amount of water every 3 or 5 minutes for about 30 minutes or so and then go to a bucket and cut a very small hole in the bottom of the bag while you hold the bag over the bucket and let the old bag water drain out. When the bag has ONLY him in it put the bag in the tank and open it and let it fill with tank water and let him swim out. He will be without water for only a couple seconds and all but he will suffer less trauma this way than if you try to net him or pour him out. I do all my fish this way and they hardly know they have been moved. They struggle a tiny bit that second or two they are without water but it is worse to try to net them believe me. As soon as the bag fills with tank water he will get his bearings and swim out.

| Hatchet you have had this whole board on pins and needles for weeks! We are dying to hear about him and see him. If he does not get here soon we will be withering and croaking for the wait. I do not see how you could stand it ... I would be walking over to the sellers home and picking him up bodily by now. Good luck and we hope to see pics and have a good report SOON!!
Rose There will be a parade and a brass band for sure!! |

| His tank is coming along well! The crypts are in - the othe plants still need to arrive. Most of the twigs are ready, the aquascape is starting to develop! 2 MTS snails are in there as well, I'm going to see how Betta reacts to them, and if he likes them 1 or 2 Nerite snails are joining the crew. I've found Ruby nerites, Stripey and spikey Nerites, and Batman Nerites recently, so it could be interesting.
Betta arrives tommorow! 22nd of July 08. I'm about six hours ahead of the US here, so it's going to be cool! |
