I got the one from petco for my 30 gallon. I think it is hard to find good dividers for tank sizes larger than this.

Petsmart usually stocks a bunch of different sizes. If you are dividing a betta tank, make sure that you put some tall plants along the divider to keep the bettas from getting to stressed out from flaring at eachother.

I made my own with some plastic mesh that you make like needle point things out of.(got them at walmart..8 in package for 2 bucks)..cut them to the size of the tank...then purchased those plastic binder holders for the laminated pages in a binder...(staples a pack of 6 for $4) and put it across the bottom and sides of the mesh...

heres a pic of one not made but the materials and what im talking about DSC07031.jpg

way cheaper and you have purdy colors to choose from LOL

Hi Shawnie..
g'morning
I like your idea there, and the colors are great! I was wondering tho, do they only come in like a 10x12 size? Or larger so that it can be used in the larger tanks by any chance? I have no Wally World around here tho..

Where were you when I was trying to figure out how to divide my bookshelf tanks?...........Those are a great idea. I like that you could get a good flow of water through them. From now on I'm checking with you before I do anything new.

Kate, I have found that they carry that plastic mesh at Hobby Lobby or other craft stores in several different sizes and colors. I bought some individual sheets (I am not sure what size off the top of my head) for 39 cents a piece.

I used the Petsmart divider when I had two Bettas in my 10gal (Sumo has since been rehomed to my sister's 6 gal, so I don't have him any more).

Just be sure you keep the water level in your tank sufficiently low, such that they can't jump the divider. My water level was only about an inch below the top of the divider because I thought the tank lid was sufficiently tight to stop them...I came home from a weekend away to find Sumo in Hollywood's half and Hollywood missing a chunk of his tail. I still don't know how Sumo got across, but that's not an experience I want to repeat.

there's craft supply places on line for those who don't have access to a Wally World or craft store...just google "plastic canvas" and you'll come up with several options. Here's one link I found that sells 10 1/2 inch x 13 1/2 inch sheets in various colors:
